Research in English Language Education in Indian Universities - A Directory

By Dr. Amol Padwad

LULU Publications, 2014

ELE research in India is still underdeveloped. ELE research forms a tiny fraction of overall research in English in Indian universities. We have a long way to go in developing ‘a popular taste’ for ELE research in India. This directory serves as a small initiative in this direction. It helps us see what kind of ELE research has been going on in our universities (and draw tentative inferences about the quality/ quantity/ range/ preferences in ELE research), it may also enable us to identify gaps and priorities in ELE research, besides offering a gateway to the available research base. This directory contains research studies undertaken in Indian universities on any themes or issues related to the teaching and learning of English language and literature. This directory serves as a valuable resource for researchers, academicians, practicing teachers, policy makers and education planners in general.

English Language Education: Understanding Change

Krishna Dixit, Vivek Joshi, Milind Mane

AINET, 2015

This is the first AINET anthology in print. All the chapters in this book are based on the presentations made by the authors in the 2nd AINET International Conference held on 10th January 2015 in Nagpur on the theme “English Language Education: Understanding Change”. It includes a wide range of issues pertinent to the English Language Teaching field. The Explorations section deals with research based reflections of the authors. The papers in this section offer observations drawn out of research. The papers in the second section – Experiences – are based on teachers’ experiences of ELT. Some of them present purely personal perceptions, while some others present perceptions drawing support from the related literature. They are written by practicing teachers and are more practice oriented. They are written as narratives and present subjective and personal perspectives. We hope that these views will trigger further discussion and sharing.
